The scene is good but no where near as cold as people make it out to be. “Who brings a shovel to a fight, that’s so cold,” but he didn’t bring the shovel, he conjured it or collected it from somewhere afterwards. That makes the scene 10x less cold.

He can't have conjured it. Let me remind you that in order to learn to conjure chains Kurapika literally lived with chains for weeks. Feeling them, sniffing them, licking them. In order to conjure something easily it must be so familiar you can feel it when it's not even there. As for getting it from somewhere? Where? They're in the middle of a wasteland. Kurapika chose that place specifically so there isn't any civilization around for them to bother anyone. No. Kurapika brought that shovel to the fight because he knew someone was gonna die tonight.
